A Bunch of Crosses

I have been on a roll in the past little while with sewing projects from my books. This time I was feeling a little down and needed a pick me up, a “selfish sewing” project! I decided to make a pillow for our living room with the few Amy Butler Cameo prints that I had. I pulled out Pillow Pop and found Katy’s pattern for “a bunch of crosses” happened to required the exact number of prints that I had. So I went with it. So glad that I did.

I have to say that I haven’t made a 2.5” patchwork project yet. It was a little finicky but completely worth it! I am glad that I had seen and read a lot of tips on matching up seams on such little squares. I really enjoyed making this pillow. I love how green and pretty it is! I quilted in straight lines with a light silver Aurifil thread #2600 which blended perfectly.

That blue print reminds me of my Grandma. She use to live in a house with a sitting room in the front entry. It was called the blue room. She had wall paper with drawings of people in blue, blue carpet, couches with blue flowers…I think you get the idea. I use to have piano lessons in that room. Oh the memories.

This pillow measures at about 20” It is sitting on our loaner couch right now… we really need to go buy a couch! A comfy couch! I do look forward to making a few more Amy Butler pillows with some of my pretty fabric stash. I sure missed out on a few lines though since I have come late to the quilting scene, lol. Oh well.

Just a couple signs…

I figured I would throw in a non-quilting post since I have been a little addicted as of late. I am patiently waiting for fabric to arrive in the mail to start Scott’s quilt, I have a feeling I am not going to get it done for his birthday like I had planned… Anyhow…

For Mothers day I made my Mother-in-law this:

And a few months ago I made this little sign for my cousins little girl:

I can’t wait to move into my new house so I can make some things for my house and my girls. Oh to be able to decorate! My Silhouette Cameo will be very busy!

Some Silhouette Projects

My awesome husband got me a silhouette cameo for Christmas. So far I have made a vinyl decal for my laptop and Scott made a batman decal for the back of the iPad.

I did spend some time and designed a family rule/motto board. Although I had to wait for some longer cutting mats and had to buy them from a different company because silhouette only has a 12 by 12 right now.  I am happy with how it turned out!

I downloaded a jpeg of a horse for Lorelei and edited in the silhouette program. I was happy with my new skills! I tried cutting fabric with the cameo. I bought the two different interfacing that the silhouette company says to use. The one I used so far was the sewable one. After ironing it on I went around the edges with pink embroidery thread.  I have to say that Lorelei was excited to have a big black horse shirt.

I have more projects to do but some of them have to wait for the new house. Since I have no where to put them here.
